What Owls Fly Through
Looking out my window at the forest dimly lit by the moon and stars, I hear an owl in the distance. I wondered, how do they fly and hunt through the dense woods? I researched and learned that most owls are nocturnal and fly almost silently, giving them an advantage over prey. Their feathers have fringes and a velvety surface, which absorbs sound created by air passing through them. Their exceptional hearing helps them locate prey even in dense foliage, and they have very large wings relative to their body size, which allows them to fly slowly and maneuver easily through tight spaces. Double matted and framed to 15x18,
